Reading List: Table Gathering

ReadingListTableGathering
While looking forward to an upcoming gastronomic adventure with fellow foodies, I am on the lookout for recipes and stories to guide the way. Soon I will share tales of these gatherings in hopes to inspire others to slow down and sit regularly with wonderful company and food.

Blog Find: Clemmensen + Brock

This is a blog about two Danish foodie friends—one a photographer, one a graphic designer—traveling about, eating, reporting back on and photographing their adventures. Clemmensen and Brok don't post often, but when they do, you'll want to jump through the screen and join them.

Space Monkey: Melrose and Morgan

What I wouldn't give for such a lovely grocery shop in my neighborhood! With interesting fixtures like floating shelves and mounds of local goods and freshly-prepared edibles, Melrose and Morgan is a gourmand's dream. In London over the holiday? Stop in for a cup of seasonal soup or an afternoon sweet like these darling little simnel cakes. Or if you're on the go, pick up a carton of Jimmy's Iced Coffee and a jar of award-winning housemade marmalade. On your way out, mention that our very own Melrose could use an outpost of this epicurean haven. We'll all thank you.

Two days roaming the Artisanal LA food extravaganza in the Cooper Building filling myself with sugar, sugar and a bit of spice. What more is there to say? It was beyond.

YDT: Indie Grocery Guide

I took a break from Monkey in LA for a bit to put on my shopping/research/eco-writing hat for one of my favorite websites, Your Daily Thread. The result was the Indie Grocery Guide! Sadly, I won't be drinking Honest Tea anymore, but luckily, I can still stuff myself with Newman-O's. Hope you enjoy!

Fair & Farm Food

One day fried, the other day fresh. This whole weekend was an exploration in local fare--both at the fair and the farmer's market. From giant turkey legs and deep fried avocado, to chameh melon and huge tangerines, it was an epicurean journey through the best and worst (deep fried butter anyone?) that Southern California has to offer.
