Adieu, Gourmet

It was heartbreaking when Condé Nast killed Domino, but that was a sprout compared to the deep-rooted tree known as Gourmet. 69 years ago, the mother of foodie magazines began in a time of rationing--people lived off only 8 oz. of cheese a week. Sacrebleu! I can't imagine. But it pressed on and for generations we've seen the evolution of dishes and the love for food via the beautiful color pages of the magazine. Not alone, I will be mourning the loss of this giant. I don't know how much more I can take. I'm still left with Sunset, but life simply isn't the same. We will miss you Gourmet. . .
